[whispersystems] Development environment for signal desktop

Hi,

I am really new at this. So if this sort of thing is already asked and answer please refer me to it.
I am trying to setup development environment for Signal-Desktop.
I read the CONTRIBUTING.md file (https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Desktop/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md <https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Desktop/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md>)

I did the standalone registration and registered my number.
As I understand it, it is connected to staging servers so I have no friends.

For this the md file suggests that we make a new Chrome Profile each one with its own Google account and Google Voice number.
Turns out that only people with valid US mobile number gets a Google Voice number.
I’m not from US so I’m stuck with no friends.
Is there any other way to make this work.

Please help me make some friends.

You can register any phone number with Signal.

So you could 'borrow' a number from a landline or a friend and register it
with Signal, then use that to communicate with yourself across profiles.
