Hi,

is there any update on the emoji discussion. Haven't heard anything
in a while about that.
will there be a switch back to android smilies on android, or will there
be an option to switch, or aren't you going to do anything regarding
that "issue".

Kind regards
Jake McGinty

There will be an option to use the system emoji in our 2.27.0 release (keep in mind this does not mean we will support Android emoji on versions of Android that don’t natively support it - we’re just letting the OS handle the emoji).

there's a pull request on github planned for the next version, where there's an option in preferences to switch to android emojis. it"s Mcginty's PR so i'd consider it official.

It seems they discussed it internally and don't want to change it again. I
made a fork which changes to the previous emojis myself but it is of course
unofficial. Form the code it doesn't seem to hard to make it changeable in
settings, but it's harder to make sure the receiver also sees android
emojis if you send them (would need some special encoding).

I think you're mistaken, Marijn. The PR against master was simply closed in
favour of the 2.27.0 branch:

Careful with rumours :)

The last time I asked this I got the exact opposite answer, but good to
hear there is something going on, development on TS is really fast! So
this should already work in the AppStore version of TextSecure?

Do there bumps happen at regular time intervals? I can't see it in the
github, so I guess the whisper team decides it internally?
