Hi,

probalby you all have seen this:
https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2016/03/possible_govern.html

In short, The New York Times is reporting that WhatsApp may be forced to
make an engineering change in the security of its software to create a
new vulnerability.

Since WhisperSystems is also involved in WhatsUp development
(https://whispersystems.org/blog/whatsapp/) it is a logical question
what do Moxie and others think about?

I agree that opensource approach is a good countermeasure, but is it
really effective IN ALL CASES?

Regards,

M.

Here is Moxie himself talking about backdoors

The opinions expressed are pretty much one-sided (which is something I
never enjoy in a debate, even if I agree with the panel...) but the
whole thing is worth watching.

Best,
