[whispersystems] Use reminder to unmute/unblock contacts?

Hi everyone,

I would like to propose a change to the devs about the unmute/unblock
UI. What do you think about using "Reminders" to easily unmute or
unblock contacts (see attached screenshot)? I'm not sure if the
"x"-button to hide the Reminder should be displayed or not, but I think
this would make it more obvious that you blocked someone and make it
easier to undo it. What do you guys think?

I personally quite like this UI. It doesn't take up too much screen
real-estate either. =)

I think perhaps the X button should remain, but the dismissal should only
be for the duration the ConversationActivity is open, IMO. And should
re-appear next time.

Cheers,
Sam

Do swipes work on all Android versions?

If so, a Left-To-Right swipe could also dismiss it?

Hey,
the feature is quite good, but a UI that's much smaller would help on smaller displays. Right now,
this /does/ take a lot of screen real estate.
If there's a mockup for a 3.5''-display in landscape, that has a few lines of text still visible,
then it's working :)

I like the idea of a bit more of a reminder that a user is muted, but agree the Reminder might be a big bulky for that. I’m thinking more like a Snackbar-style notification either at the bottom or where the reminder is currently placed?

hm, I just looked into the google snackbar, its always displayed at the
bottom of the screen. I don't think that would fit good into the
ConversationActivity. It would be displayed on top of the compose field,
which would make it a bad UX I guess... You won't be able to start
typing when you open a muted conversation.

What do you think about the reminder like in my screenshot (attached
again) which will be hidden after 5 (?) seconds? Shouln't be a space
problem then I guess...
