[whispersystems] Did Signal Chrome users get notified to transfer to standalone Signal Desktop app?

So the standalone Signal Desktop app was released on October 31st, 2017.
I found this out a couple days later when I Googled it, after wondering
what progress had been made on it, and had to begin the transfer process
manually. I notified my family to to do the same. I was wondering
whether users who do not actively follow Signal development ever
received a notification on the Chrome app telling them to move to the
standalone app. Are there still users of the depreciated Chrome app who
are completely unaware that they were supposed to transfer over?

Hi Martin,

I found myself the existence of the Electron version only two weeks ago. I’ve never been notified in the Chrome version.

I received a notification in the Chrome app version prompting me to switch
over. Presumably many users missed the notification (it was not very
obtrusive).

Yep, afaik, no such notification ever appeared on the chrome store
version... I didn't realise I was lagging behind on the feature set until a
couple of days ago...
