[whispersystems] Section 215 US Patriot Act

Hi everyone,

Here in Europe we hear a lot about the section 215 of the US Patriot Act, which implies (if I understood it correctly) that every company legally registered in the US should have a backdoor, so that the American State (eg NSA) can access users information if needed.

Can anyone clarify this point?
How does signal and open whisper systems handle this issue?
